With the delivery of the first new Electric Volvo FM truck out of an order of 2, the Van der Linden Group has strengthened its focus on sustainability.
The first electric tractor will mainly be deployed locally at our container terminal ROC Waalwijk. This will allow us to closely monitor the results and possibilities of electric transport and of course offer our customers in Central Brabant the most sustainable possible transport of sea containers.
For the delivery of the 2nd electric tractor, which is planned for mid-August, discussions are being held with a few customers of Van der Linden Transport with the aim of deploying this 2nd truck more on routes in which more highway kilometers will be made. This will allow us to properly compare the possibilities of electric transport in the various deployment areas. We also give another group of our customers the opportunity to look together with us at where we can become more sustainable as partners with these investments in electric transport.
In addition to the delivery of electric tractors, the first (of 2) 6×2 Volvo tractors with turbocompound engines has also been delivered.
After demonstrating on international trucks within our fleet that the additional investment of the turbocharged engine on our Volvo's resulted in clear fuel savings and therefore less harmful emissions for the environment, this option has now been chosen for the heavier work as well.
These new trucks with their cleaner engines can be used multifunctionally in both heavy loads with standard trailers and for our extendable trailers for longitudinal transport, thus allowing us to serve multiple customers in cleaner heavy and longitudinal transport.
